Barney Frank was a prime enabler of this whole financial mess. He ran interference for Fannie and Freddie as they stockpiled ever more toxic securitized debt. Now taxpayers are on the hook big time.
Barney Frank and Bill Clinton were both prime enablers along with a whole host of other Dems.
Fannie and Freddie became a kind of jobs program for out-of-work Democrats. Although the media prefer not to focus attention on this comparison, the AIG bailout amounts to $170 billion whereas the Fannie and Freddie bailout amounts to $400 billion. Of course, the Federal housing policies of the Democrats are directly to blame for creating both those disasters and so many more.
Undoubtedly, it was the Dems who caused this mess and the Republicans who tried to prevent it.
I am not fond of either the Dems or the Republicans. But, the Dems are clearly and consistently the greater evil. They sure proved it by creating (and worsening) this fiasco.
