Like Evans and many other scientists, I have long known that the water vapor response was the linchpin of the debate.

Without the (demonstrably false) water vapor response, none of the computer models would be able to whip up even slight concern, much less the hysteria which has driven this government gravy train for so many decades.
Of course, one glance at the history of atmospheric CO2 tells you the AGW assumptions on water vapor were laughably false from the very beginning.
