Oil Resources in The USA

This post is a subset of a more comprehensive post
which quantifies why we should “Drill Here, Drill Now”.

Below are just A FEW of the vast resources of
oil and oil equivalents available in the USA:

USA, Mean Estimate From Oil Shale = 800 Billion Barrels
USA, Mean Estimate From Coal Liquefaction = 535 Billion Barrels
USA, Bakken Formation = “on average, 200 billion barrels” Technically Recoverable
USA, Mean Estimate From The Outer Continental Shelf = 86 Billion Barrels
USA, Mean Estimate From ANWR = 10.4 Billion Barrels

Oil Shale technology was proven on a commercial scale at least as far back as 1924.
The largest Oil Shale facility has been in commercial operation since 1980.
The guidelines exist for environmental protection in developing Oil Shale.
The ONLY remaining obstacle is the most dangerous religious cult ever.
Coal liquefaction was fully proven on a commercial scale no later than 1955.
Click here and here for more on Coal Liquefaction.

Price spikes in 2008 were a simple matter of world demand exceeding world supply.
Ethanol mandates were a giant, costly mistake!
T. Boone Pickens is peddling a DANGEROUS FANTASY!

Yet again SBVOR you post a genuine nugget of excellent information...

Have you seen this particular task force report dated 2006?

Juandos,

Thank you, my friend.

I'm not familiar with what you cited. But, I am off to explore it now. Thanks for the tip!

“Our engineers here project these wells out to 20-30 years of production and in my mind that has yet to be proven as viable,” wrote a geologist at Chesapeake in a March 17 e-mail to a federal energy analyst. “In fact I’m quite skeptical of it myself when you see the % decline in the first year of production.”

“In these shale gas plays no well is really economic right now,” the geologist said in a previous e-mail to the same official on March 16. “They are all losing a little money or only making a little bit of money.”

Documents: Industry Privately Skeptical of Shale Gas

Over the past six months, The New York Times reviewed thousands of pages of documents related to shale gas, including hundreds of industry e-mails, internal agency documents and reports by analysts. A selection of these documents is included here; names and identifying information have been redacted to protect the confidentiality of sources, many of whom were not authorized by their employers to communicate with The Times.

Comrade @TheEclipsenow,

1) This is not a Shale Gas thread.

2) Shale gas is a horse which long ago left the barn (and, that’s a good thing).

3) The Old Gray Lady (aka The New York Times) is a rapidly dying pathetic joke.
