1) Is it a myth that Ayn Rand considered Medicare to be profoundly evil? No, that is true. The myth promoted by the Dims is that Medicare is not profoundly evil. It is an easily quantified fact that Medicare is profoundly evil.
Of all the insane assumptions on the part of Leftists, nothing is more insane than the Leftist assumption that if government does not provide “charity”, then nobody will. The obvious fact is that government is the worst possible way to deliver any goods and any services. This is especially true of “charity”.
2) If one defines altruism as doing that which provides for the common good, then Rand did not oppose altruism per se, she opposed those activities which most falsely imagine to provide for the common good. Ayn Rand correctly understood that Capitalism -- the “selfish” pursuit of the profit motive -- is the ONLY human activity which EVER truly provides for the common good.
3) Religion…
Yes, Ayn Rand was an atheist. So what? Perhaps her distaste for religion was largely driven by the way the collectivist mindset had corrupted religion -- Liberation Theology, anyone?
