Even WaPo Knows Napolitano's System is Broken

Yesterday, Napolitano lit up the blogs with her boneheaded assertion that “the system worked”.
This morning, Napolitano was on every single cable news channel whining about how she was “taken out of context” (by the AP via the NYT).

In one sense, Napolitano was clearly referring to “the [entire] system”, right down to this guy. In another sense, she can argue she was only referring to “the system” of “making sure that we respond properly, correctly and effectively” once the terrorist is already on the plane and executing his plan. Gee, not much comfort in THAT -- especially since we MERELY GOT LUCKY on this one!

AFTER his own father informed our government that his son might be a terrorist, our Federal bureaucrats failed to so much as flag this guy for secondary airport screening! Given that breath-taking FAILURE, how boneheaded must Napolitano be to assert -- without qualification -- that “the system worked” (even if she thought she was qualifying her assertion)?
Also today, Napolitano effectively suggested that the bureaucracy failed to so much as flag this guy for secondary airport screening because there was no check box on the bureaucratic list reading “Father told us his son might be a terrorist”. Napolitano also implied that the “fix” would be to revise the checklist (rather than revise the decision making process). So, when another terrorist slips through the cracks because it was the uncle (rather than the father) who ratted out the terrorist, I suppose we’ll revise the checklist again - eh, Janet?
Get used to it! This is the EXACT same sort of decision making process we’ll see once the Dims tyrannically impose ObamaCare on an unwilling majority!

Harry Reid Passes a Big One
The public does not approve.
Never the less, just this morning, health care tyranny was passed in the Senate.
At least three Dim Senators -- that we know of -- prostituted themselves in a BIG way in order to sell their votes. Could this crap possibly smell any worse?
It remains to be seen whether the House Dims and the Senate Dims can reconcile the two very different bills passed by each house and put something on Obama’s desk. But, the odds are they get something passed into law. We don’t yet know exactly what that will be. There are only four things we can count on:
1) As usual, not one damn Dim will have even READ the 2,700 plus pages (and growing) of pure crap before unilaterally imposing it upon the entire nation.
2) It will make our health care system FAR WORSE.
3) Accounting fraud (and other trickery) aside, Federal deficits will SOAR.
4) The filthy, stinking, worthless Dims will have ensured that the total collapse of this great nation will come about even sooner.
But, the Dims don’t care one FIG about ANY of that. The ONLY thing they care about is that they will have expanded the scope and scale of government, brought us one GIANT step closer to a total government monopoly over 1/6th of our economy and brought us one more GIANT step closer to their end game.
With “leadership” like this, is it any wonder so many Americans are not in the holiday spirit?

Slowly, slowly, the Democratic health agenda is turning into a political suicide pact…
So why the stubborn insistence on passing health reform? Think big. The liberal wing of the party—the Barney Franks, the David Obeys—are focused beyond November 2010, to the long-term political prize. “The United Nations climate change conference ended in recrimination yesterday without reaching a clear deal on emissions targets.
After a stormy session in Copenhagen, in which a vociferous anti-American minority brought the talks close to collapse, most countries agreed simply to ‘take note’ of a watered-down agreement brokered by President Barack Obama and supported by Britain.
This accord — which had been drawn up in discussions with China and 30 or so other countries on Friday — sets a target of limiting global warming to a maximum of 2C above pre-industrial times.”

For a quick glimpse into the breathtaking ignorance of this “accord”, who can tell me what the official temperature was during “pre-industrial times”?
During the last 10,000 years, the temperature at Vostok, Antarctica has varied from more than 2C above the annual mean temperature for 2008 to almost 2C below the annual mean temperature for 2008 (making 2008 -- in one sense -- almost PERFECTLY “NORMAL”).
Thus, just over the last 10,000 years, we have a range of NATURAL variability of about 4C. So, along this 4C range of variability, which is the magic temperature which the moronic bureaucrats will select as the official temperature for “pre-industrial times”?
Roughly 128,000 years ago, the temperature at the same location was more than 3C above the annual mean temperature for 2008. Ergo, the “accord” declares that NATURAL VARIATIONS in temperature are excessive and we must find a way to prevent MOTHER NATURE from doing what Mother Nature will do anyway.
You see, if we want to guarantee that the current interglacial warming period will not reach the maximum temperatures achieved during the previous perfectly natural interglacial warming period, we will have to find a way to “correct” each of the three different orbital eccentricities of our planet which are collectively known as Milankovitch Cycles.
For now, we can just be grateful that these moronic, ignorant, greedy and unspeakably evil power mongers failed to agree to anything which would be legally binding. But, rest assured -- the evil doers are not done yet. They will soon be back attempting the very same power grab.

Paul Decelles - I am flattered (and disappointed)
I am flattered to see Dr. Paul Decelles -- in his LJWorld blog post -- cite my chart.
I am disappointed to infer that Dr. Decelles did not bother to examine more than the first chart in my post. If he had, he would have quickly found his arguments completely shattered by the very peer reviewed science which we now know was stacked against any and all skeptics of AGW hysteria.
Oh well…
I suppose I should be pleased that Dr. Decelles even examined a single chart. It’s a start. I wonder if that one chart at least gave Dr. Decelles some pause to contemplate all the “tipping point” hysteria.
P.S.) I was more flattered back when Dr. Tim Ball cited one of my charts (from this post).

Imminent Climate Scare Tyranny?

Anyone no longer believing Obama's campaign language of ‘fundamentally changing the United States’ underestimates this man. This is a massive power grab of historical and possibly unconstitutional breadth at a breakneck pace. Card check, health care reform, TARP fund misallocations, the stimulus bill pork-barrel spending, cash for clunkers, the $3.4 billion settlement with the Indian tribes, the financial reform bill, additions to the federal work force amidst the hemorrhaging of jobs in the private sector, and now this...we had better wake up and smell what this team is shoveling. And fast.”
However, as noted in this post, the EPA tyranny will face a deluge of legal challenges. And, in the wake of ClimateGate, the EPA tyranny will be very hard to defend in court.

Blair: Hang the science, we want your money!
“The world must take action on climate change at Copenhagen even if the science is not correct, Tony Blair, the former Prime Minister has suggested.
Following the ‘climategate scandal’, Mr Blair said the science may not be ‘as certain as its proponents allege’.
But he said the world should act as a precaution against floods, droughts and mass extinction caused by climate change, in fact it would be ‘grossly irresponsible’ not to.”
What Blair is really saying is that political tyrants all around the world are salivating at the best chance they have ever had to separate the people of the world from $45 TRILLION of their hard earned money.
In the USA alone, the Obama administration -- only after coming face to face with one of those nasty old FOIA requests -- revealed that their own analysis concluded that Waxman-Markey would cost the average American family $2,641 per year.
“[F]loods, droughts and mass extinction” will all happen no matter WHAT the stinking politicians do -- because, as George Carlin knew, they are all NATURAL events!

Copenhagen: A climate of manipulation
“Some naive folk, who probably still don't understand that governments do not, in fact, make money of their own but merely take what has been earned by others and redistribute it to causes they think will win them the most votes, may believe that the wealth redistribution will actually lower the temperature of the planet.

As Gallup notes, both Reagan and Obama “took office when the economy was struggling”. And, that impacted the approval ratings for both Presidents.
Reagan, throughout his two terms, was viciously assaulted by the media. By contrast, even SNL knows the media have been brazen in their propagandizing for Obama. The media dragged Reagan’s ratings down and the media have kept Obama’s ratings artificially high.

A huge part of the ClimateGate scandal is the systematic exclusion of any scientist who dared to question any aspect of the orthodoxy of catastrophic man made climate change -- including the preferred (clearly catastrophic) government response. Also huge was the systematic attempt to remove at least one uncooperative editor of an esteemed peer reviewed science journal.
One would think that a highly placed university scientist would have enough common sense NOT to throw MORE gasoline on that fire! But, that is EXACTLY what Dr. Schlesinger has done. Open mouth, insert foot!
I suppose all the (self-described) overt propagandizing from so-called “journalists” has the alarmists conditioned to expect that sycophantic behavior forever and ever, amen.
My dear Dr. Schlesinger - wake up and smell the coffee! A new day has dawned! Your world got rocked! And, it will NEVER be the same!
Catastrophe Averted as IPCC 'Experts' Report 2350 as 2035
“The UN panel on climate change warning that Himalayan glaciers could melt to a fifth of current levels by 2035 is wildly inaccurate, an academic says.
J Graham Cogley, a professor at Ontario Trent University, says he believes the UN authors got the date from an earlier report wrong by more than 300 years.
He is astonished they ‘misread 2350 as 2035’.”
