Former Dim Senator Brazenly Seeks to Exploit Tragedy - Part II
In the previous post I exposed just how factually challenged former Dim Senator Tim Wirth is in his brazen attempt to exploit tragedy for political gain.
But, Timmy is not merely factually challenged, he is also quite delusional. You see, Timmy imagines that weather forecasters will be the salvation of his CAGW religious cult. Yes, once again, weather is not climate (unless it can be dishonestly twisted into useful political propaganda).
Timmy says it was a good thing that people such as weather forecasters have come together “to try to explain climate change and climate impacts when they’re doing the evening news and talking about the weather, which is where most people in the United States get their information. That’s going to be, I think over a period of time, an extremely important set of steps to take.”

A study published in Vol. 90, Issue 10 (October, 2009) of Bulletin of the American Meteorological Society finds that only 24% of Meteorologists polled agree with the IPCC.

Former Dim Senator Brazenly Seeks to Exploit Tragedy
Dims are never shy about brazenly and dishonestly seeking to exploit tragedies for purely political ends. Former Democratic Senator Tim Wirth is the latest example.
While pimping for his purely political climate change agenda, Wirth is quoted to have said:
1) Winter, 2011 in the continental USA was COOLER than the average winter for the entire 20th century (and has been trending downward for 24 years).
So, all that snow (which created all that flooding) was NOT caused by global warming. Oh, and just 11 years ago, the alarmists assured us that “snowfalls are now just a thing of the past.”
2) May, 2011 in the continental USA was 1F COOLER than the average May throughout the entire 20th century.
So, clearly, these tragic, yet perfectly natural, wildfires were NOT caused by global warming.
3) The data on temperatures in the continental USA are documented by peer reviewed science to contain about a 30% warming bias.
So, in reality, it was even colder last winter and last May than the NOAA data indicate.

Oceans more alkaline than any time in last 250 million years
“While eco-alarmists would have you believe the oceans have ‘acidified’ to dangerous pH levels, a paper published in Nature finds that the modern ocean pH of about 8.1-8.2 is actually the most alkaline the oceans have been over the past 250 million years. During this time corals, phytoplankton, and indeed most of the ocean biomass have evolved. The paper shows a mean pH of about 7.7 over the past 250 million years, whereas the alarmist and frequently incorrect IPCC predicts ocean pH will drop to 7.88 (~0.2 pH units) under a ‘business as usual’ scenario by 2100.”

Arctic sea ice was to be gone by 2012
The year was 2007. Arctic sea ice reached a new summer minimum (for the very brief time since man has been monitoring Arctic sea ice). It was a golden opportunity for propagandizing. That was the year that National Geographic (one of the worst CAGW propaganda rags on the planet) teamed up with Seth Borenstein (the Baghdad Bob of the CAGW cult) to suggest that there could be no summertime Arctic sea ice as soon as 2012.
Unfortunately (for the hysteria mongers), the trend since 2007 has shown MORE summertime Arctic sea ice, NOT less.

Research Center Under Fire for 'Adjusted' Sea-Level Data
“The University of Colorado’s Sea Level Research Group decided in May to add 0.3 millimeters -- or about the thickness of a fingernail -- every year to its actual measurements of sea levels, sparking criticism from experts who called it an attempt to exaggerate the effects of global warming...
Taylor said that the correction seemed bigger when compared with actual sea level increases.
‘We’ve seen only 7 inches of sea level rise in the past century and it hasn’t sped up this century. Compared to that, this [fudging of the data] would add nearly 20 percent to the sea level rise. That's not insignificant,’ he told FoxNews.com.”

Please! Tell me again who thinks it is a good idea to utterly waste $45 TRILLION in order to pretend we can micromanage climate change. Kyoto has already PROVEN that we can waste all the money we want and we will not even come CLOSE to changing the global temperature in any way which could even be measured.
Furthermore, history tells us that the estimate of $45 TRILLION would balloon into at LEAST a full order of magnitude above that figure.
