Climate Bill Is Built On 'Clean Coal' Myths

“The fate of the Waxman-Markey climate bill rests upon two myths about so-called ‘clean coal.’ The first is that coal, as used today in the U.S., is a dirty fuel. The other is that coal can be made ‘clean’ by capturing carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions from power plants and storing them underground in geologic repositories…

the theoretical amount of atmospheric warming avoided by CCS [CO2 capture and sequestration] works out to between 0.045 to 0.15 degree Celsius avoided over the next 90 years…

In a presentation to the Society of Petroleum Engineers last March, energy expert Michael Economides estimated that CO2 cuts on the order of the U.S.-shunned Kyoto Protocol would require the drilling of 161,429 injection wells by 2030 at a cost of $1.61 trillion.

That price tag doesn't include the cost of capturing the CO2 at the point of generation, purchasing rights of way for pipelines, pipeline installation costs, and liability insurance. Power plants would have to use 30% more energy for CO2 capture, transport and storage.

Economides says the total cost may be as high as $1 trillion annually — without any guarantees that the CO2 would stay sequestered.”

Climate Tyrants Win Round One

“Minority Leader John Boehner (R-Ohio) had a few choice words about House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's (D-Calif.) landmark climate-change bill after its passage Friday.

When asked why he read portions of the cap-and-trade bill on the floor Friday night, Boehner told The Hill, ‘Hey, people deserve to know what's in this pile of s--t.’

Using his privilege as leader to speak for an unlimited time on the House floor, Boehner spent an hour reading from the 1200-plus page bill that was amended 20 hours before the lower chamber voted 219-212 to approve it. [Any bets how many Dims read the bill before voting for it?]

Eight Republicans voted with Democrats to pass the bill; 44 House Democrats voted against it…

One Democrat was upset that his leaders would needlessly force vulnerable Dems to vote for a bill that will come back to haunt them. Mississippi Rep. Gene Taylor (D) voted against the measure that he says will die in the Senate.

‘A lot of people walked the plank on a bill that will never become law,’ Taylor told The Hill after the gavel came down.”

Candidate Obama promised a tax cut for 95% of Americans. President Obama, if he has his way, will impose a MASSIVE tax increase on ALL Americans. Of course, it will be a stealth tax in the form of MUCH higher energy costs -- with all the looted booty going to brainless counterproductive Federal bureaucrats.

But, the real irony is that this idiotic bill will likely do so much economic harm that the Federal government will actually wind up getting LESS TAX REVENUE while Americans pay massively higher energy bills. Again, quoting the above link:

“The six-page CBO letter also listed repeated examples of situations in which, for purposes of the federal budget, it will assume that the cap-and-trade approaches will dampen businesses' income, meaning less revenue to the federal government.”

But, anybody stupid enough to have voted for Obama will be stupid enough to blame the energy providers rather than their beloved Messiah and his fellow Dims. And, with an ever complicit media leading the propaganda campaign, the most massive deception in the history of humanity will just keep on rolling on. IDIOTS!!!

The result is government-set caps on energy use that damage the economy and hobble growth--the very growth that supports investment and innovation. Analysis of the economic impact of Waxman-Markey projects that by 2035 the bill will:

• Reduce aggregate gross domestic product (GDP) by $7.4 trillion,
• Destroy 844,000 jobs on average, with peak years seeing unemployment rise by over 1,900,000 jobs,
• Raise electricity rates 90 percent after adjusting for inflation,
• Raise inflation-adjusted gasoline prices by 74 percent,
• Raise residential natural gas prices by 55 percent,
• Raise an average family's annual energy bill by $1,500, and
• Increase inflation-adjusted federal debt by 29 percent, or $33,400 additional federal debt per person, again after adjusting for inflation.”

$1,600 Per Year to Indulge Al Gore's Religious Cult

“Douglas Elmendorf, director of the Congressional Budget Office, told members of the Senate Finance Committee Thursday that ‘Under a cap-and-trade program, consumers’ — not demonized corporations, we might add — ‘would ultimately bear most of the costs of emission reductions.’…

Cutting carbon emissions by 15% through this method would cost each American household an average of $1,600 a year, the CBO found. In a worst-case scenario, the cost is $2,200 per household.

Current House legislation would carry even heavier economic penalties than the CBO's model suggests.

Should it become law, it would require that CO2, the greenhouse gas some (but far from all) scientists believe is warming the planet, be cut 20% from 2005 levels by 2020. By 2050, the emissions would have to be 83% below 2005 levels. In light of this, $1,600 a year seems like a bargain. …

OK, now we're convinced. The country does need cap-and-trade — preferably a cap placed on the many poor ideas flowing out of Washington and a large-scale trade of the existing political leadership for a fresh class of elected officials who can think straight.”
