Barack Obama’s climate deal unravels

After a stormy session in Copenhagen, in which a vociferous anti-American minority brought the talks close to collapse, most countries agreed simply to ‘take note’ of a watered-down agreement brokered by President Barack Obama and supported by Britain.

This accord — which had been drawn up in discussions with China and 30 or so other countries on Friday — sets a target of limiting global warming to a maximum of 2C above pre-industrial times.”

Hurrah for no legally binding stupidity!

For a quick glimpse into the breathtaking ignorance of this “accord”, who can tell me what the official temperature was during “pre-industrial times”?

During the last 10,000 years, the temperature at Vostok, Antarctica has varied from more than 2C above the annual mean temperature for 2008 to almost 2C below the annual mean temperature for 2008 (making 2008 -- in one sense -- almost PERFECTLY “NORMAL”).

Thus, just over the last 10,000 years, we have a range of NATURAL variability of about 4C. So, along this 4C range of variability, which is the magic temperature which the moronic bureaucrats will select as the official temperature for “pre-industrial times”?

Roughly 128,000 years ago, the temperature at the same location was more than 3C above the annual mean temperature for 2008. Ergo, the “accord” declares that NATURAL VARIATIONS in temperature are excessive and we must find a way to prevent MOTHER NATURE from doing what Mother Nature will do anyway.

You see, if we want to guarantee that the current interglacial warming period will not reach the maximum temperatures achieved during the previous perfectly natural interglacial warming period, we will have to find a way to “correct” each of the three different orbital eccentricities of our planet which are collectively known as Milankovitch Cycles.

For now, we can just be grateful that these moronic, ignorant, greedy and unspeakably evil power mongers failed to agree to anything which would be legally binding. But, rest assured -- the evil doers are not done yet. They will soon be back attempting the very same power grab.

Blair: Hang the science, we want your money!

Following the ‘climategate scandal’, Mr Blair said the science may not be ‘as certain as its proponents allege’.

But he said the world should act as a precaution against floods, droughts and mass extinction caused by climate change, in fact it would be ‘grossly irresponsible’ not to.”

Reuters -- ever true to the dictates of their overlords -- can always be counted on to preach the gospel according to AGW hysteria. And, this article is no exception.

But, the bottom line here is that Obama will have no Cap and Trade legislation to take to Copenhagen and, now, Rudd will have nothing to take to Copenhagen. India and China will (wisely) not sacrifice their progress in lifting their people out of poverty just to satisfy the high priests of the Western AGW religion.

So, mercifully, it is looking more and more like the best (or, more accurately, worst) the Copenhagen tyrants will come home with is a meaningless and toothless symbolic gesture. But, even if they fail to secure their power grab, these scumbags are perfectly happy to hypocritically indulge themselves in wining, dining and luxury travel at the taxpayer expense. So, after (hopefully) “accomplishing” nothing, they will soon begin booking their next boondoggle wherein they will take another stab (pun intended) at sodomizing the rest of the world.

There will be no climate treaty in December

I wonder if this British poll and this American poll factored into the retreat. As of today (11/15/09) the Brits reject AGW hysteria by a margin of 7,330 to 4,643 (61% to 39%) and only 37% of Americans believe global warming is primarily caused by human activity. Is it possible that even the Dims are hesitant to be THAT brazen in imposing their tyranny upon an unwilling majority?

Obama Likely to Skip Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen

Copenhagen - The Most Massively Corrupt Endeavor EVER!

An early draft of the Copenhagen agreement, to replace the collapsing Kyoto Protocol, suggests the focus is as much on redistribution as on carbon reduction, with no guarantee that any of it will have the slightest impact on carbon emissions or the global climate.

In climate policy circles, trillion-dollar transfers and programs proliferate and, in total, easily overtake the paper losses suffered by financial markets through the 2008 crisis. The International Monetary Fund recently set its estimate of the global losses from the financial crisis for 2007-2010 to be US$3.4-billion. The draft Copenhagen document proposes annual “financial flows” to developing nations of somewhere between $70- and $140-billion. At $140-billion, the ten-year tab would run to $1.4-trillion. But forcing carbon-based energy out of the global economy will take a lot more than that…

The big difference between the financial meltdown losses and carbon control spending is that the financial market losses are paper losses that, in time, will turn around. The IMF said the financial markets have already recouped 15% of their losses as securities values rebound. The carbon spending, if it were to take place, would be lost money never to be recouped.
