2) McCain

If you think the Obama voter will be better off under Obama, think again! Under Obama, she might get a brand new welfare check in the guise of a “tax cut” (even though she does not currently pay any income tax).
But, EVERY school of economic thought KNOWS that this new welfare check WILL come with an increased risk that she will lose her job. Somehow, I doubt her new welfare check will make up for having lost her job.
In June of 1980, under Jimmy Carter, the “misery index” reached an all time high of 21.98: The “misery index” as of September, 2008 was 11.04 (and dropping!).
If you think the economy is bad now, elect Obama and give him a supermajority of Democrats in the Senate (just as Jimmy Carter had) and see how much worse the economy can get!

If anybody still doubts that simple supply and demand issues were, by FAR, the primary cause of the price spikes we saw last summer in oil and gasoline, this update should put that misconception to rest.

I would say the CRA, combined with the Clinton “enhancements” to the CRA, created the catalyst for a chain reaction. Without that catalyst, this financial mess never would have happened.

Anybody still naïve enough to actually believe what The New York Times says would fall for this line:

One assumes the 1977 Democratic supermajority was not mentioned because it was slightly more moderate and slightly less damaging (except for having been the primary root cause of our present housing mess).
In 1965, under a Democratic supermajority, LBJ saddled the nation with Medicare and Medicaid. Prior to that, the federal government virtually never ran a deficit. Subsequent to that, ever larger deficits became the norm. Without major reform, it is a mathematical certainty that the catastrophe of that Democrat supermajority WILL kill this nation. And, frankly, the odds of death far exceed the odds of reform. Nobody wants to give up “free” candy.
In 1977, under a Democratic supermajority which would make the pending Democratic supermajority look downright moderate, Democrats created the 1977 Community Reinvestment Act (which, after being “enhanced” under the Clinton administration, went on to serve as the primary root cause of the current housing mess).
Only 15 months after taking power (without a supermajority) the impact of the Democrats on federal deficit spending was already dramatic. If it comes to pass, this Democrat supermajority is certain to further expand Entitlements to the point of fully nationalizing healthcare. That will only hasten the demise which LBJ already guaranteed.

Note: When I first heard this story, I gave it no credence at all. But, then I learned the facts. If Obama is a natural born citizen, he could make this go away with virtually no effort. Instead, he has gone to FAR greater trouble NOT to comply with TWO lawsuits! WHY would he do that?
