Today, the BLS reports:

“The unemployment rate edged up to 9.8 percent in November”

Unemployment remains WAY above the roughly 7.0% Obama promised for this time frame if Congress passed his so-called “Stimulus Package” (before even ONE of them read the damn thing).

Congress needs to cut off unemployment “benefits”. Extending unemployment entitlements primarily encourages people to remain unemployed!

Congress needs to permanently extend the Bush tax cuts for ALL (and then learn to live within their means).

This failure was entirely predictable.

Japan refuses to extend Kyoto protocol

Quoting The (uber-Leftist) U.K. Guardian:

“The delicately balanced global climate talks in Cancún suffered a serious setback last night when Japan categorically stated its opposition to extending the Kyoto protocol – the binding international treaty that commits most of the world's richest countries to making emission cuts.”

Wikileaks Morons Display Their Ignorance

“WikiLeaks lashed out at Amazon.com Wednesday after it was announced that the online shopping company, whose servers were hosting the whistleblower site’s activities, would stop working with the site.

Taking to the site’s official Twitter feed, a WikiLeaks spokesman suggested that Amazon was acting in violation of the First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, which in part restricts the government’s ability to restrict speech.”

Offshore Drilling Curbed Again

“The Obama administration reversed course Wednesday and said it wouldn't allow drilling off the Atlantic coast and in the eastern Gulf of Mexico near Florida, citing safety concerns after the worst offshore oil spill in U.S. history.”

Snow & Cold & Global Warming

Today, Telegraph.co.uk tells us:

“Britain may be in the grip of the coldest winter for 30 years and grappling with up to a foot of snow in some places but the extreme weather is entirely consistent with global warming, claim scientists.”

Just ten years ago, the alarmists sang a different tune.
Quoting Independent.co.uk from 3/20/2000:

“snow is starting to disappear from our lives”

Man Made Global Warming theory predicts winter warming in the northern hemisphere. Coincidentally, we know that Milankovitch Cycles produce the same effect. But, why blame orbital eccentricities when CO2 can be demonized?

Interestingly, using data which contain a 30% warming bias, we see NO USA winter warming over the last 23 years (and counting). But, we DO see a dramatic 12 year winter cooling trend. Click here for more details and direct links to citations.

Globally, Phil Jones (of Climategate infamny) admits there has been no statistically significant global warming for the last 15 years and the alarmists at NOAA admit there has been no global warming since 1998:

“The trend in the ENSO-related component for 1999–2008 is +0.08±0.07°C decade, fully accounting for the overall observed trend. The trend after removing ENSO (the "ENSO-adjusted" trend) is 0.00°±0.05°C decade.”

Of course, the most relevant studies are those which show that both the Arctic AND the Antarctic are experiencing an on-going, uninterrupted 10,000 year cooling trend which shows NO SIGNS of abating. The citation links and more details are found here and here.

No wonder the alarmists suddenly embrace cold and snow as being “consistent” with Catastrophic Man Made Global Warming. What else could they do? Worse still (for the alarmists), peer reviewed science suggests they will be stuck in this particularly desperate mode for at least the next decade.

Well, if Global Warming caused the record breaking November snowfall here at Steamboat, then give me some more Global Warming!
