Chasing a More Accurate Global [Climate] Trend

NASA Goddard, whose climate research is led by nutty extremist James Hansen, provides the world with the pretense of credibility through the NASA name. But, their alarmist presentations rely entirely upon deeply flawed surface temperature measurement stations and completely ignore the far more reliable satellite data. Anybody wonder why?

But, rather than make use of these tremendous resources, the Green religious cult members insist upon requiring us, through costly force of law -- and for no good reason, to deplete truly “rare” resources.

Worse still, these are resources required for national defense (precision-guided weapons) -- unless, of course, the Green Meanies prefer carpet bombing (or outright surrender).

Carol Browner Threatens Judicial Tyranny

The Dims have a long history of unconstitutionally imposing their tyranny through the unelected and unaccountable elements of the judicial branch.

When public opinion prevents them from achieving their goals in the legislature, they do an end run around our elected and accountable representatives and rely upon unelected judges to do their unconstitutional dirty work.

Now, the most dangerous politician in America is announcing the Dim intention to carry on that tyrannical tradition.

The tyrannical folly of Cap and Trade has been too thoroughly exposed. The Dims will never get it passed -- unless, of course, they can threaten us with even greater tyranny through the courts. And, now they have!

Arctic Sea Ice & Polar Bear Commentary

As I document below, of all the dishonest climate change hysteria mongering, there is nothing more dishonest (or, more profitable) than the hysteria surrounding Arctic sea ice and Polar Bears.

Northern hemisphere sea ice is melting.

The question is: Is this even remotely unusual?
The answer, documented below, is NO!

1) Northern hemisphere ice has been melting for 20,000 years!

About 20,000 years ago -- at the time of the Last Glacial Maximum -- northern hemisphere ice stopped expanding and began receding. In general, northern hemisphere ice has been melting ever since then. Why would we expect it to stop now?

Given the natural (and extreme) variations in ice melt in the past, where do some get the arrogance to think their computer models are the gold standard for how much ice should now be melting?

Eventually, the ice WILL stop melting and WILL begin expanding. That will mark the beginning of the next glacial period. NASA has documented “around 100” such glacial (and interglacial) periods to have occurred over the last 2.5 million years (at regular, albeit variable, intervals).

2) The next glacial period is what we need to worry about.

During the last glaciation, the area now occupied by New York City was covered by an ice sheet “1,000 feet thick”. It WILL happen again! Fortunately, peer reviewed science suggests we have about 50,000 years to prepare for that truly catastrophic (and purely natural) climate change.

3) There is NOTHING even REMOTELY unusual about current Arctic trends!

IF our summers were to see a total melting of the Arctic sea ice AND sea levels were to rise another 4 to 6 meters, that would ONLY replicate the conditions witnessed during the previous perfectly natural, perfectly normal interglacial warming period (the Eemian).

But, don’t believe me; believe the alarmists at the National Snow and Ice Data Center (NSIDC).

Quoting the FAQ page at the NSIDC site:

A) “5,500 years ago, the Arctic had substantially less summertime sea ice than today”

B) “The last time that scientists can say confidently that the Arctic was free of summertime ice was 125,000 years ago, during the height of the last major interglacial period, known as the Eemian. Temperatures in the Arctic were warmer than now and sea level was also 4 to 6 meters (13 to 20 feet) higher than it is today”

Of course, not even the alarmists at the IPCC believe sea levels will -- by 2100 -- rise anywhere near levels seen during the Eemian.

In fact, the latest IPCC report suggests sea levels will rise a mere 18cm to 59cm (7” to 23”) by 2100. See Table 3.1 on page 45 from this rather large and slow loading IPCC PDF file.

Melting Arctic sea ice, by the way, does not contribute to sea level rise.

4) Polar Bears have ALREADY survived a TOTAL absence of Arctic sea ice!

The bottom line on Polar Bears is this (as presented by purely political CAGW alarmists at Berkeley):

“The differences among the bears' [DNA] sequences pointed to a split between polar bears and brown bears just 150,000 years ago.”

Regardless of their attempts to distort the facts regarding current conditions, even these Berkeley alarmists freely admit that Polar Bears have already survived a period when ALL the Arctic sea ice melted during the summers -- see point #3.

5) Compared to the previous 4 perfectly NATURAL interglacial warming periods, there is NOTHING unusual about current temperatures OR trends!

6) So, combining all of the above points, we conclude that:

A) Polar bears survived a perfectly natural, perfectly normal period (the Eemian) during which ALL the Arctic sea ice melted during the summers and are still with us today.

B) We also note that -- contrary to popular (revenue generating) propaganda -- Polar Bears are doing just fine.

7) To Summarize:

A) The Polar Bears and the Arctic sea ice extent (and/or volume) are no cause for concern (except to your wallet).

B) The totalitarian political religious cult of environmental extremism and the policies they seek to impose are cause for GREAT concern!

Obama Admin: Cap And Trade Could Cost Families $1,761 a Year

ObamaCare's Biggest Lies

Two lies, one deception and one questionable assertion from Obama’s 9/9/09 speech before Congress:

1) LIE: “There are also those who claim that our reform efforts would insure illegal immigrants. This, too, is false.”

Judge Andrew Napolitano, just like Obama, taught Constitutional law.
Napolitano makes this observation as to why Joe Wilson spoke the truth:


2) LIE: “under our plan, no federal dollars will be used to fund abortions”

In 1973, a far Left Supreme Court -- in utter defiance of the United States Constitution -- invented a new “right” found NOWHERE in the REAL Constitution.

That new “right” allows mothers to murder their children for no higher purpose than mere convenience.

The exact same logic used by Judge Napolitano in refuting Obama lie #1 applies equally to this second lie. The courts WILL require ObamaCare to fund abortions!

3) Deception: Notice how Obama danced around the issue of a “government takeover” without actually denying the obvious:

“Now, my health care proposal has also been attacked by some who oppose reform as a ‘government takeover’ of the entire health care system. As proof, critics point to a provision in our plan that allows the uninsured and small businesses to choose a publicly sponsored insurance option, administered by the government just like Medicaid or Medicare. (Applause.)

So let me set the record straight here. My guiding principle is, and always has been, that consumers do better when there is choice and competition…

[Blah, Blah, Blah while doing more tap dancing around the obvious]”

A government takeover of the entire health care system has been a goal of the Democrats ever since FDR, in 1944, announced his “Second Bill of Rights” (if not before).

Does anybody remember HillaryCare? To deny this goal is to insult the intelligence of all Americans (many of whom -- unfortunately -- richly deserve such insults).

Before I offer the link which more fully debunks this assertion, please note that the link includes the following:

The CBO asserts the House bill adds over $1 TRILLION in new entitlement spending and $583 BILLION in new taxes with a net ADDITION to the debt of $239 BILLION.

Say bye, bye to Pelosi’s House bill!

B) The Baucus Senate bill:

The CBO asserts the Baucus Senate bill would:

“result in a net reduction in federal budget deficits of $49 billion over the 2010–2019 period”

But…

i) Do we REALLY believe the government will save $409 billion through “reductions in Medicare spending”?

ii) Will this alleged $409 billion savings come at the expense of Medicare recipients?

iii) Will unions -- with Cadillac health insurance plans -- accept “an excise tax on health insurance companies that sell plans that cost more than $21,000 for families and more than $8,000 for individuals”.

iv) Would we be better off waiting until 2011, when Republicans take back the Congress and offer up legislation which provides:

a) Tort reform (which would kill the Dim Cash Cow).

b) Real competition among insurance companies across state lines.

Camille Paglia & The Trouble With Triberals

Triberals is a word I just invented. It is the melding of Tribbles and Liberals.

Tribbles is a reference to a famous Star Trek episode.

The current Wikipedia entry summarizes the episode thusly:

“Cuddly creatures turn into a menace quickly when they reproduce out of control”

“Cuddly creatures”, which “purr a relaxing trill that the crew… find soothing” but which“threaten to consume all the onboard supplies” reminds me of:

1) Jonah Goldberg’s book where Liberal Fascism is imposed under the placard of a happy face.

2) The deficit spending of the Dims.

Furthermore, the big three propaganda vectors -- government schools, state run media and “entertainment” -- have caused these menacing “cuddly creatures” to “reproduce out of control” and become a dire threat to our Republic and our freedom.

Although Tribbles were -- in some respects -- warm, fuzzy, cuddly and soothing, they were not terribly intelligent. And, attempting to debate a Triberal is quite analogous. For example, I have presented mounds of solid data and peer reviewed science which thoroughly debunks any suggestion that we are on the precipice of Man Made Catastrophic Climate Change. Yet, when a Triberal is presented with this evidence, the always predictable response is:

1) Triberals do NOT examine the evidence.

2) Triberals smear the messenger rather than address the evidence.

3) Triberals do everything possible to silence the messenger.

4) Triberals simply regurgitate some platitude handed down from their authoritarian “leaders” (typically Al Gore or the IPCC).

No matter the issue at hand, this is typical of the response from Triberals. Triberals have not merely lost the ability to think for themselves, they openly scorn anybody who does as lacking the authority to do so.

And, that brings us full circle to just ONE FACET of the latest, greatest essay from DEMOCRAT Camille Paglia -- who may just be the very last independent thinker among the entire Dim party:

“affluent middle-class Democrats now seem to be complacently servile toward authority and automatically believe everything party leaders tell them. Why? Is it because the new professional class is a glossy product of generically institutionalized learning? Independent thought and logical analysis of argument are no longer taught. Elite education in the U.S. has become a frenetic assembly line of competitive college application to schools where ideological brainwashing is so pandemic that it's invisible. The top schools, from the Ivy League on down, promote "critical thinking," which sounds good but is in fact just a style of rote regurgitation of hackneyed approved terms ("racism, sexism, homophobia") when confronted with any social issue. The Democratic brain has been marinating so long in those clichés that it's positively pickled.”

Warm Bias of about 30% in the IPCC Reported Surface Temperature Trends

Quoting PhD Climatologist Dr. Roger Pielke Sr.:

“Our [peer reviewed] paper… has clearly documented an estimated warm bias of about 30% in the IPCC reported surface temperature trends. This bias also brings into question the claim that 11 of the 12 years in the period 1995 to 2006 were the warmest on record. Moreover, despite the claim in the IPCC (2007) report, the tropospheric and surface temperature trends have not NOT reconciled...

The lack of news coverage on this documented bias which has appeared in the peer reviewed literature on the Klotzbach et al (2009) paper is another clear example of the failure of most of the journalism community to cover news that conflicts with the IPCC (2007) perspective.”
