Anita Dunn & Chairman Mao

Van Jones, the self-described Communist, no longer works for President Obama.

But, we’ve just learned that -- in June of 2009 -- Anita Dunn, who reports directly to President Obama as the White House Communications Director, described Communist dictator and mass murderer Mao Zedong as one of her two “favorite political philosophers”.

Are you beginning to understand what Obama meant when he said “we are five days away from fundamentally transforming the United States of America”?

I have to say...

That thing Anita does with her tongue while speaking gives me the willies!

It makes her look like the crazy aunt in the basement.

Then again, when we listen to what her tongue "articulates", she SOUNDS like the crazy aunt in the basement!

GAG!

Funny thing about that.

George Bush was an admirer of Mao, and encouraged Karl Rove to read up on him. For that matter, Goldwater and his advisors all followed the teachings of Mao (read Stephen Shadegg's How to Win an Election).

So you're saying that they were all communists, too?

Wow. You got a lot of anger there, Seebvee. Seems like you're trying to pull a whole lot of something out of nothing. And just off the top of my head, I'd say you're trying hard to pull it out of your a*s

Nixon praised Mao. Not his writings - the man himself.

Hell, McCain even quotes Mao - and much in the same way Dunn did. (Did I just say "done did"?)

What Dunn said was, "And then the third lesson and tip actually come from two of my favorite political philosophers, Mao Zedong and Mother Teresa -- not often coupled with each together, but the two people that I turn to most to basically deliver a simple point" - pretty obviously a joke. Unless you're a raving loon with no sense of irony. (Not a great joke, but pretty obvious.)

So does that make you a moronic sack of sh*t?

Nameless Cynic,

No anger here, just a profound unwillingness to suffer fools (or trolls) gladly.

Are you trollish or merely easily manipulated by so-called “journalists” and The Myth of Moral Equivalence?

Your McCain link is too absurd to warrant a response. Besides, I am NO fan of McCain.

In your Nixon link, “praised” is a word deliberately and dishonestly selected by a scumbag “journalist”, NOT by Nixon. What Nixon is actually quoted to have said is undeniably factual. Even murderous, totalitarian tyrants can possess “immense physical courage and ideological determination”. That is a simple statement of fact, NOT a gesture of “praise”. Furthermore, it is a statement which belongs in the context of Nixon’s successful efforts to achieve a diplomatic breakthrough with Mao’s China.

Again, Nixon did not come REMOTELY CLOSE to describing Mao as one of his two “favorite political philosophers”. Hence, there is NO MORAL EQUIVALENCE!

MORON!

P.S.) Anita Dunn was CLEARLY NOT making an attempt at a joke!

She was merely noting the odd pairing of what she unmistakably describes as her two "favorite political philosophers".

SBVOR,

Agree. The context is clear. Why doesn't the audience or the speaker laugh if this is a joke?

What she is saying is that she draws inspiration from the political philosophy of man who is responsible for millions of deaths.

There are thousands of people whose lifes could be used to make a point about someone deciding on what battles they wish to fight and perservering in the face of insurmountable odds ie. Helen Keller, Albert Schweitzer, Milton Friedman (obviously, she would never mention Milton), or Rachel Carson.

Choosing such a person as a model might well be offensive to members of the audience. That a speaker does not consider this is bizarre.

Looks like another left wing loon.

She kinda reminds me of that tv series V with the lizzard aliens. On a serious note, even despicable people can have admirable qualities but you have to be very clear when saying such things as "I admire most".

As soon as you get a chance, I'd love to hear your explanation/justification/rationalization of Newt Gingrich quoting Mao?

(I assume you are familiar with Gingrich's quoting of Mao.)

And please provide something more than a person insult of someone you do not know (i.e., me).

And I would greatly appreciate something with more substance than "Gingrich did not come REMOTELY CLOSE to describing Mao as one of his two 'favorite political philosophers'. [sic] Hence, there is NO MORAL EQUIVALENCE!"

Thank you in advance!

OldSchoolRepublican,

Yes, it appears -- per Media Matters (Obama’s lap dog) -- that Gingrich quoted Mao.

I quoted Marx. Does that make me a Marxist?

Did you really fall for a pathetic attempt on the part of Media Matters to draw a phony moral equivalence between Dunn and Gingrich? It just ain’t there!

It ain’t there because there IS a VERY big difference between Gingrich (or anybody else) quoting Mao and Dunn describing Mao as one of her two “favorite political philosophers”.

But, obviously, you already knew those were the correct answers.

Come ON! This is a President who has surrounded himself with a self-described Communist, a member of Socialist International and a Hugo Chavez apologist (just to name a FEW of the MANY radical extremists in and around this administration). Why would ANYBODY be surprised to discover that Obama’s Communications Director is a big fan of Mao Zedong?
